IUI Treatment in India

IUI - Intrauterine Insemination

What is IUI?

IUIstands for intrauterine insemination, which is often referred to as artificial insemination. It is a type of fertility treatment that is concerned with directly placing the sperms into the uterus. The IUI treatment cost in India varies depending on the clinic and the expertise of the doctor.

Which individuals need to opt for intrauterine insemination treatment?

Instead of focusing on the infertility issues in women, the IUI infertility procedure is generally concerned with and favorable in cases where the male partner is facing some mild infertility problems. Some of the most common ones include the following issues.

  • Low sperm count: Issues that include the unavailability of adequate sperms required for natural fertilization. Due to the presence of fewer sperms, the chances of fertilization also tend to decrease.
  • Low sperm motility: The deficiency in the ability of sperm to swim up and reach the egg.
  • Cervical factor infertility: Situations in which the mucus present in the cervix directly impacts sperm motility.
  • Sexual dysfunction: Impotency; not capable of performing sexual activities.

Intrauterine insemination is also commonly used when patients use donor sperm for conception. At that point, this procedure is also referred to as donor insemination. We at Delhi IVF Clinic are associated with reputable sperm banks that allow the patients to select and procure semen samples of their choice. Donor insemination becomes necessary in case of low sperm count and low sperm motility. Due to these problems, certain sperm extraction procedures will automatically fail. In addition, donor insemination is also suitable for single women who do not have a partner but still wish to conceive.

IUI treatments are also popularly used in cases where the cause of infertility is unknown. However, we at Delhi IVF Clinic do not believe in the concept of unexplained infertility. Instead, we are sure that something important is being overlooked, which is why the main cause is not being identified. Hence, to prevent this from happening, we look into even minor details, identify the root causes, and then formulate a specific treatment plan that will help achieve desirable results.

What is the procedure involved in the IUI treatment in India?

There are a few systematic steps included in the intrauterine insemination infertility treatment procedure. The steps are carried out in the same format as mentioned below. However, the steps can only be carried out when the fallopian tubes of the female patient are open, prior to the IVF, through tests for tubal patency.

Sperm collection and washing:

Sperms of the male partner or donor are collected and washed. Doing this helps the doctor eliminate dead and low quality sperms while concentrating on the most motile ones.

Determining the ovulation period:

The gynecologist determines when the female is ovulating in order to make sure that the sperms are injected at the right time. In case the female is facing some ovulation or infertility issues, the doctor will mildly stimulate the woman's ovaries to produce mature eggs. The ovulation period can be determined by a number of ways including at home ovulation kit, blood tests, or transvaginal ultrasound.

Insertion of the sperm:

During the time of ovulation, when there is a sufficient amount of mature eggs in the ovaries, the practitioner uses a small tube and places the washed sperm directly into the uterus.

Recovery period:

The female can get back to her normal work routine as soon as the sperm insertion procedure is completed. Although the procedures involved are painless, some women might experience mild cramping or blood spots for a few days.

Pregnancy test:

It is advised that two weeks after the IUI procedure, the female should take a pregnancy test to determine if the treatment has worked or not.

At Delhi IVF Clinic, the IUI treatment cost in Delhi is reasonable, considering the high-quality care provided by experienced professionals, ensuring optimal results. As all patients who are undergoing the IUI infertility treatment are continuously monitored and informed about the next steps so that they have sufficient time for preparation.

When is IUI treatment in Delhi recommended?

The Intrauterine insemination infertility treatment is recommended to clients in the following cases.

  • Women with cervical mucus problem
  • Low sperm count and low sperm motility
  • Ejaculation issues or erectile dysfunction
  • Psycho-sexual difficulties
  • If the male partner has a semen allergy
  • People who are utilizing donor sperm in order to conceive

How successful is the IUI infertility treatment?

There are various factors that affect the success rate of IUI treatments. Procedures carried out using one's own partner's sperm have 15 to 20 percent chances of succeeding. On the other hand, the success rate of an IUI treatment carried out using donor sperm is around 20 to 25 percent.

Also, the age of the expecting women is one of the most significant factors that affect the overall success rate of IUI treatments. Women below the age of 40 are more likely to conceive through IUI, whereas females above the age of 40 might have to switch to the donor IVF infertility treatment.

Apart from the age and health of the patients, the success rate, as well as the IUI treatment cost in Delhi, varies from clinic to clinic. It majorly depends on the number of cases handled by the practitioner and their experience in this particular field.

Delhi IVF Clinic was established 32 years ago. From then till now, Dr. Anoop Gupta and other doctors at the clinic have assisted more than 15000 people in conceiving through IVF.

Are there any risks involved in intrauterine insemination infertility treatment?

Intrauterine insemination is one of the safest fertility treatments in comparison to the other ones. However, there are a few potential risks that a woman might experience when undergoing an IUI infertility treatment in Delhi. Some of them are mentioned below:

Multiple babies:Women undergoing IUI treatment are given fertility drugs that further help increase the production of eggs. This further increases the chances of having multiple babies. Due to this, they are at a risk of experiencing premature labor, low birth weight, other health risks, and even death.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS):OHSS is a rare condition that is predicted by the presence of more than four follicles which are further caused due to the consumption of too many fertility medicines. As a result, women might experience severe health conditions including difficulty in breathing, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and swelling and excessive pain in their ovaries.

Infections:The chances are very low, but women might catch an infection after the IUI procedure. The doctor may then prescribe certain antibiotics to treat that particular infection.

Vaginal bleeding:Women might experience a small amount of vaginal bleeding or spotting for a day or two after their IUI procedure.

Uterine or Fallopian tube damage:In rarest of the rare cases, intrauterine treatments might cause damage to the female's uterus or fallopian tubes.

Anxiety and depression:Couples who undergo IUI treatment in Delhi might get anxious and depressed thinking about the results, which might affect their mental and physical health.
